Anna’s character sheet:

Anna’s favorite color is turquoise and her favorite sweater is exactly that color, knitted by her grandmother.

There are otherwise few descriptions of Anna’s appearence, however, her character is brave, warm, and full of lust for adventure. She is a part of a large family - a father, an artist mother, an older brother, a little sister, and lastly a little brother.

Therefore, I wanted to encapsure a happy and confident girl, that comes from a loving home, and I wanted her to radiate this joy and gumption in her character design.

Leonora’s character sheet

Leonora is the pretty girl in class, and Anna’s best friend. Her hair is long and golden, and she wears a golden locket around her neck.

Throughout the story, Leonora goes through a developement that is not all that good at first. However, she ends up making up for past mistakes and becoming much more confident in herself.

It was a big focus for me to capture Leonora’s insecurity, and at the same time capture her sweetness and kindness.

I chose a very feminine design for Leonora. I did this because she is described as resembeling a princess, but also to create a contrast to Anna’s design.

Rosenly

Rosenly is the first children’s book I have illustrated, back in 2022.

The story’s main character is called Anna and she recently moved into the house named Rosenly with her family. Anna starts in a new school and quickly becomes best friends with Leonora. However, one day everything goes wrong and Anna is left by herself. Lonely and hurt she barely wants to go to school, but one day she receives a mysterious note, and a surprising friendship begins.

The book is warm and magical, resembeling the universe of Astrid Lindgren, and I immensely enjoyed the process of making Rix’ characters come to life.
